Process

Production steps

Every step is recorded; no product leaves the line without laboratory control.

  1. Forklifts moving accepted goods

    Goods receipt and inspection

Every incoming lot is inspected; anything outside our quality standards is returned. Products are routed to the right line by packaging type and content.

  2. Packaged former foodstuffs in the holding area

    Holding and stock area

Lots that pass inspection wait in the holding area until processing.

  3. De-packaging and crushing line

    Handling, de-packaging, crushing

Packaged products are automatically separated from their packaging in the crushing and de-packaging unit; the packaging goes to external recovery plants for disposal.

  4. Heat treatment unit

    Heat treatment

Products with high moisture are heat-treated to bring moisture down to the target level.

  5. Moisture analyser in the laboratory

    Laboratory

Nutrient values are determined, quality and safety verified, regulatory compliance checked.

  6. Bagged finished product in the stock yard

    Finished product storage

Finished goods ready for dispatch are moved to the stock yard.

  7. Loader filling a truck

    Dispatch

Delivered as a feed ingredient to compound feed mills and farms.

Sources

Which former foodstuffs are processed

Bakery products such as biscuits, crackers and wafers; chocolate and confectionery; bread; crisps and snacks; coffee and nut residues.

Use

Where the product goes

Biscuit meal is delivered to the compound feed industry and used in cattle, sheep and goat, poultry and fish rations.

Which animals is it for

From biscuit meal to the circular economy

Biscuit meal is recovered from products made for human consumption that left the food chain: cake, chocolate, wafers, biscuits, crisps, bread and cocoa. After suitable processing it enters compound feed rations and contributes to balanced concentrate and forage formulations.

Meat, milk and eggs from animal production return to the human food chain and the cycle starts again. Food losses become economic value and natural resources are used efficiently.
